The world's highest paved border, three of the five 8,000 m peaks, 14 days from the UK
Fourteen days along the Karakoram Highway from Islamabad to the Chinese border at 4,693 m — Attabad Lake, Baltit and Altit forts, the Hunza valley, Deosai's high plains and Skardu, with the Nanga Parbat viewpoint on the way. Return flights from the UK included.
This is the tour British-Pakistani families ask us for most: two weeks doing the north properly, without the guesswork of arranging drivers, permits and mountain hotels from 6,000 km away. You fly into Islamabad, drive the Karakoram Highway — the highest paved international road on earth — and work north through Kaghan, Chilas, Hunza and Khunjerab before crossing to Skardu and the Deosai plateau. Everything is arranged: 4x4 Land Cruisers with mountain-experienced drivers, verified hotels with hot water and back-up power, NOC permits where required, and a guide who speaks English, Urdu and Burushaski. Group sizes stay small because the roads in Gilgit-Baltistan reward flexibility. It runs May to early October only, when the passes are open.

British passport holders need a Pakistan e-Visa, normally issued in 7–10 working days; our team completes the application and provides the required invitation and hotel documents. British-Pakistani dual nationals should travel on a NICOP or POC card — we advise on which is fastest for your case at no charge.
Allow around 14 days for processing — book with that in mind.
Gilgit-Baltistan is one of the safest regions in South Asia for travellers and sees tens of thousands of foreign visitors each season. We monitor Foreign Office advice daily, register the group with local police as required, and use drivers who have worked the Karakoram Highway for years.
The pass is 4,693 m and you spend around an hour there after a gradual climb, which most travellers handle comfortably. You will feel breathless walking uphill. We carry oxygen in every vehicle and our guides are trained to spot altitude sickness early.
Yes — a two-night extension with the famous Raikot jeep track and the walk to the Nanga Parbat base camp viewpoint, £95 per person. It is added between days 5 and 6. The jeep track is not for the faint-hearted.
It flies under visual rules and cancels in poor weather, perhaps one day in four. We always hold the road alternative and build the schedule so a cancellation costs you sightseeing time, never your international flight.
Absolutely, and many of our British-Pakistani clients do. Tell us at booking and we will structure the itinerary around your family days in Lahore, Mirpur, Gujrat or wherever you are heading — this is one of the reasons we sell the tour as a private departure.
All meals are included from day 2 and everything is halal. Expect Pakistani and Balti cooking, plenty of fresh trout in the valleys, and vegetarian options at every meal. Tell us about allergies at booking.
