What an Umrah Package Really Costs from Pakistan

The short answer

For September 2026, a 14-day Umrah package from Islamabad starts at around PKR 229,000 per person and runs to roughly PKR 348,000 for 21 days in a double room near the Haram. That covers return flights, hotels for the whole trip, the Umrah visa and bus transport between the cities.

Almost every package you will be quoted in Pakistan sits somewhere in that band. When you see something dramatically cheaper, it is nearly always because one of four levers has been pulled — and it is worth knowing which.

Lever one: the airline

On identical hotels and dates, the airline alone moves the price by around PKR 8,000 per person. Airsial is the cheaper direct option from Islamabad with a 20 kg allowance each way; Saudia, the Saudi national carrier, costs more but offers a wider schedule and a larger baggage allowance.

The real trap is indirect flights. A package routing through Sharjah or Doha with a long layover can look PKR 20,000 cheaper, and it will cost you the better part of two days of a fourteen-day trip. Ask whether the flight is direct before you compare anything else.

Lever two: how long you stay

Fourteen days is the standard package: typically nine nights in Makkah and five in Madinah. Twenty-one days runs about fourteen nights in Makkah and six in Madinah.

Here is the part people find surprising: going from 14 to 21 days does not cost 50% more. On our September rate sheet the jump is between PKR 4,000 and PKR 38,000 depending on the hotel — because the flight, the visa and the transport are already paid for, and you are only adding hotel nights. If you can take the leave, the extra week is the best value in the whole sheet.

Lever three: how many share a room

This is the single biggest lever available to you, and it is entirely your choice. Rooms are quoted four ways:

• ▸Sharing (or quint) — five or more to a room, the cheapest option
• ▸Quad — four to a room, the usual family choice
• ▸Triple — three to a room
• ▸Double — two to a room, the most private and the most expensive

Lever four: how close the hotel is to the Haram

A hotel 500 m from the Haram costs materially more than one 2,500 m away in Kudai, and on our sheet that gap is around PKR 25,000 per person on the same dates.

Whether that is worth it depends entirely on you. You will walk to the Haram five times a day. At 500 m that is a seven-minute walk each way. At 2,500 m you are relying on a shuttle bus that runs on its own schedule and fills up at prayer times.

Our honest advice: if you are travelling with elderly parents or young children, spend the money on distance rather than on room type. A quad room close in beats a double room far out, almost every time.

What is not in the price

Nearly every Pakistani Umrah package quotes tickets, hotels, visa and transport — and excludes food. Budget PKR 1,500 to 3,000 per person per day for meals, more if you eat in hotel restaurants rather than the local places.

Also budget for ziyarat by private car if you want it, qurbani if you intend to offer it, and gifts and zamzam on the way home. And check the baggage allowance before you shop — 20 kg goes quickly once dates and prayer mats are involved.

How to compare two rate sheets properly

Put them side by side and check five things in this order: is the flight direct; how many nights in Makkah versus Madinah; how far each hotel is from the Haram and whether that distance is walking or shuttle; how many people are in the room the price assumes; and whether the visa is genuinely included or added later.

Two packages advertising the same headline price can differ by a full day of travel and a mile of walking. The headline number is the least useful part of the sheet.
